Today's career talk
Okay, you've graduated from college, and you're looking for a job but not a real job just yet. Why not apply to be a GO (gentil organisateur) at Club Med, suggests the book Nice Job: The Guide to Cool, Odd, Risky, and Gruesome Ways to Make a Living by a team of writers on the Lookout Media Team. "About 8,000 GO's are working at any given time and the company needs 3,500 new ones during any given year," the book points out. There is at least one cautionary comment: "Employers outside the Club Med village may have a tough time understanding the value of the six years you spent at Club Med."

Credit card overuse or late bill payment can quickly snowball into a serious credit problem.
How can a person rein in credit spending and establish a good credit history? The answer may lie at your local bookstore or library. One book that offers insights and tips on how to cope with credit issues is Life After Debt, 3rd ed. by Bob Hammond and published by Career Press ($14.99). It discusses how to re-establish credit and sort out disputes with a credit bureau.

Moving Experiences: West side resident Lisa McLaughlin loves to move, believing that relocating to a new home is like getting a fresh start in life. She launched her company in 1989 when she realized that there was a market for moving services that included more than just loading and transport of home furnishings. Welcome Home packs, unpacks and arranges, offering a completely unpacked, professionally organized and decorated home by the end of the move day.
Finding A Niche: The company, based in Delhi Township, works primarily within a 25-mile radius of Cincinnati. It has served thousands of clients in its 15-year history. One segment of its clientele consists of older people who want extra help in moving into retirement communities.
Blueprint: Welcome Home employs more than 20 people, most of whom have been with the company for over six years. It is continuing to grow by offering consulting services to entrepreneurs elsewhere who want to establish their own "settling-in" service.
