Rivalry of the week

Kentucky at Indiana

5 p.m., WSAI-AM (1530) This border war between two schools known primarily for their basketball success often finds their fans already looking forward to hoops season - and this year is no different. Both teams have two losses in their first three games and need a victory to right the ship before another football season goes down the drain in September.

"Indiana is in the same boat we are," UK coach Rich Brooks said. "The team that comes out of this with a loss goes to 1-3 and has dug a huge hole."

Indiana leads the series 17-15-1, but the Wildcats have dominated recently with seven wins in their last eight meetings. UK has enjoyed recent success passing against Indiana, gaining more than 300 yards in four of the last five meetings, and figures to be able to throw the ball again this year behind quarterback Jared Lorenzen.

IU's recent strength in the series has been running the ball. The Hoosiers have averaged 191 yards on the ground in their last five UK games.

Last year, UK posted a 27-17 victory behind a 14-point fourth quarter during a rainstorm in Lexington.
