Grants go to Festival of Freedom

The Fine Arts Fund is offering a handful of $5,000 and $10,000 grants to encourage small arts organizations to develop new or enhanced programming for the Festival of Freedom in autumn 2004.

Program director Kathy DeLaura promises "a minimum of five grants."

Programming must be consistent with one of the themes established by the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center: freedom, cooperation, courage and perseverance.

While the 16 Fine Arts Fund members and associate members are eligible only as collaborating partners with smaller arts organizations, their educational departments can apply.

More information: 871-2787. Deadline for applications is Nov. 17. Recipients will be announced early next year.
