Weber has introduced its first portable gas grill, the 41-pound "Q," to national distribution. The grill folds down to less than 32 inches wide, yet it's grilling surface is large enough to handle 10 strip steaks, and its lid is tall enough to contain a whole chicken. What Is This?

Tamari sauce is a Japanese-made soy sauce that is usually thicker, darker, more intensely flavored but less salty than many Chinese soy sauces. And tamari is also often wheat-free. Use it like other soy sauces, for cooking and as a table condiment.

Hot Date

Hyde Park Gourmet Food & Wine hosts an "Artful Wine Tasting" of Honig wines with Michael Honig, 7-9 p.m. today at Miller Gallery (2715 Erie Ave.) in Hyde Park. Cost is $25, including wine and appetizers. Reservations: 533-4329.

Cool Stuff On The George Foreman Grill

We made potato latkes with a light brushing of olive oil on the grill. They cooked through, were brown and extremely healthy. There was practically no fat in those latkes.
