While modest in size, Chez T Cuisine at Ridge Market in Pleasant Ridge delivers a wallop of taste for carryout diners.
The menu changes with the seasons, and I just caught the end of the summer selections. I'm glad - everything was flavorful and fresh. And nothing was too spicy for sensitive eaters.
Daily specials feature several entrees and side dishes. On a Friday, I tried the Moroccan chicken over couscous with tiny grilled asparagus ($8.95). Friends had raved about it and I agree. The chicken has a preserved lemon sauce dotted with black olives waking up the flavor. A brochette of grilled shrimp ($8.95) was also excellent. Accented by cilantro pesto, the shrimp were served with shreds of zucchini and carrot mixed with sesame noodles.
I really liked the Cuban pork ($8.95) served over ricotta corn cakes.A zingy slaw came along side. There was also good vegetarian lasagna with black beans and goat cheese ($7.95).
You can order side dishes for $6.50 a pound and the Chez T Cuisine salad of mixed greens, almonds and blue cheese for $3.75.
Chez T Cuisine is strictly carryout, but there are tables and chairs in the center of the market where you can eat The shop also caters.
