What's the buzz?

$3,000 and advice offered at signing

Want a shot at $3,000?

Personal money management expert Dave Ramsey will sign his new book The Total Money Makeover - A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness and give away the money Friday at the Barnes & Noble bookstore, 7800 Montgomery Road in Kenwood.

Ramsey, who underwent bankruptcy in 1990, stresses debt reduction as a key step toward financial prosperity. He offers advice on his nationally syndicated radio program, The Dave Ramsey Show, which is broadcast locally from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday on WBOB-AM.

Ramsey, 43, is a riches-to-rags-to-riches story. At 26, he had a real estate portfolio of more than $4 million. Four years later he and his wife lost everything and entered bankruptcy. He then began rebuilding his finances and has written several books in addition to Makeover (Thomas Nelson Publishers; $24.99), including More than Enough and Financial Peace.

Ramsey will sign books beginning at 7 p.m. Friday at Barnes & Noble. The $3,000 giveaway, open to those at least 21 years old, will be a drawing of entries at the store. The winner must be present.
