Kentucky obituaries

Boone County

Mary Lue Hopper

BURLINGTON - Mary Lue Pearce Hopper, 98, formerly of Modesto, Calif., died Monday at her home.

Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death in 1987.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon. Service will follow at noon today at Lakewood Mortuary & Memorial Park in Hughson, Calif.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, Calif. Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes are handling local arrangements.

John G. Yunker

WALTON - John G. Yunker, 60, formerly of Evansville, Ind., a retired carrier for The Kentucky Post, and an employee in the cafeteria at St. Henry High School in Erlanger, died Saturday while on vacation in Destin, Fla.

Mr. Yunker was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, serving in the dental corps. He was a volunteer for several years at the Parish Kitchen in Covington.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Aikman Yunker; a son, Robert of Florence; a daughter, Stephanie Hagedorn of Walton; his mother, Thelma Yunker of Evansville, Ind.; two sisters, Sr. Judy Yunker, O.S.B. of Martin, Ky., and Deborah Hammerle of Northville, Mich.; a brother, Phillip of Missouri City, Texas, and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Timothy Church in Union.

Mr. Yunker's remains will be cremated at Southwest Ohio Crematory in Milford.

Memorials: Dwelling Place Monastery, care of Sr. Judy Yunker, O.S.B., 150 Mount Tabor Road, Martin, KY 41659.

Campbell County

Walter Abell

COLD SPRING - Walter Leroy Abell, 78, a former police officer for University Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, died Wednesday at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Joanna; two sons, Doug of Independence, and Jeff of Fort Thomas; two daughters, Rebecca Ringo of Erlanger, and Melissa Scheller of Independence; two brothers, Rudolph of Indianapolis, and William of Harrison, and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. and service 11 a.m. today at A.C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Home in Bellevue. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.

Memorials: Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, KY 41075; or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 306 Center St., Bellevue, KY 41073.

William Jackson

COLD SPRING - William "Will" Jackson, 59, an employee for the Internal Revenue Service, died Wednesday at University Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati.

Surviving are his wife, Sheryl A. Jackson; a son, Cameron of Cold Spring; three sisters, Pat Burkhardt of Henderson, Nev., and Rosalind Jackson, and Wanda Jackson, both of Middletown, and a brother, David of Middletown.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and service 10 a.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.

Grant County

J.B. House

CORINTH - J.B. House, 75, a self-employed stone mason and farmer, died Wednesday at Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown, Ky. Mr. House was a Korean War Army veteran and member of Caney Fork Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian Glass House; four daughters, Sharon Tapia of Georgetown, Debbie Gonzalez of Lexington, Becky Barnes of Dry Ridge, and Sheila Miller of Owenton; two sons, Danny and Clinton House, both of Corinth; two sisters, Joyce Lyons of Anderson, Ind., and Ellen Penn of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; three brothers, Jimmy House of Anderson, Ind., Donald House of Stamping Ground, Ky., and Kenneth Kincaid of Springfield, Ky.; 22 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and service 2 p.m. today at New Columbus Baptist Church in Corinth. Burial will be in Caney Fork Cemetery.

McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth is handling arrangements.

Robert Burger

COVINGTON - Robert "Bob" Burger, 59, a retired home improvement salesman for Security Home Improvement Co., died Wednesday at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Linda R. Burger; two sons, Randall of Cincinnati, and Jordon of Covington; a daughter, Courtney Burger of Covington; a sister, Alma Rogers of Morningview; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and service 1 p.m. today at Allison & Rose Funeral Home in Covington.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger.
