Promotions and new on the job

• Karen Monzel has been named associate dean for academic and faculty affairs at the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. Monzel is also an associate professor of design in DAAP's School of Design. She was instrumental in developing the new digital design major for the School of Design. She has a primary teaching and research focus of interactive multimedia design and imaging.

Craig Moore has joined Hilliard Lyons as a financial consultant in Cincinnati.

Lloyd Wolfe has joined Barefoot Advertising as creative director.

• Appointed new members of the board for The Cincinnati Real Estate Club Inc. (CREC): Jeremy Hayden, vice president and general council; Dave Ebbesmeyer, secretary; and Erin Klotzbach, membership director.

Phyllis G. Bossin has been appointed chair of the section of family law of the American Bar Association.

Dr. Robert Reineck has joined in practice with Dr. Randle Egbert and Milford Dental Excellence. Dr. Reineck graduated in 2002 from the Ohio State University's Dental School. He then completed advanced education in oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics and general dentistry at the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Colorado.

Cindy Philippo has been appointed to the board of directors at New Perceptions in Edgewood.

• Appointed to the board of directors for Boys Hope Girls Hope of Greater Cincinnati: Don Bornhorst, Comair Inc.; Bryant L. Brewer, Baker & Hosteller, LLP; David W. Deye; Doug Greiwe, Greiwe Interiors Inc.; Joshua Harkavy, Harkavy Management Systems Inc.; Thomas K. O'Neil, Ernst & Young, LLP; and Betsy Saal, Dunne & Associates Realtor.

David Osborn has been appointed to the board of trustees of Beechwood Home.

Clement Leo Bezold Jr. has joined Countrywide Home Loans as a home loan consultant, Fort Mitchell branch.

• Joseph Detzel has been appointed a new member to the Thomas More College board of trustees. Detzel is a 1963 graduate of Thomas More College. He spent the majority of his business career with Cintas Corp., retiring in 1992 as the company's executive vice president. He also serves as a trustee for Office Ware and for Wellspring School of Theology.

Jack Henn has joined Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, a Cincinnati nonprofit organization, as volunteer coordinator.

Don Harden has joined Fifth Third Bank, Northern Kentucky, as wealth management adviser of investment advisors division.

J. Eric Rottinghaus and Christopher H. Hurlburt have joined the creditor's law firm of Javitch, Block & Rathbone (JB&R) as associates.

Mary Magateaux has joined Day Community, a new adult day care center located at Mercy St. Theresa Center in Mariemont, as center manager. Day Community is the result of a partnership between Cincinnati Area Senior Services and Mercy St. Theresa Center. Appointed to the board of Cincinnati Area Senior Services: Paul Colgan, senior tax manager, Grant Thornton, LLP; Jamie Houseman, executive director of Mercy St. Theresa Center and Dr. Timothy Lewis, instructor of clinical medicine specializing in geriatric internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati.

• Chad Garrett has been named principal instructor at New Horizons Computer Center of Cincinnati.

• Dean Furlan has joined Sabo Design Associates (SDA) as a residential design associate. Furlan has completed more than two years of co-op with SDA. His responsibilities include producing preliminary and final construction drawings for residential projects, as well as presentations and updates to clients during the design process. He received a bachelor of science in architectural engineering degree in 2003 from the University of Cincinnati's College of Applied Science.

Acquisitions

Matrix HealthCare Services has acquired a new facility, Oxford View Nursing Center. The new name will be Matrix HealthCare of Oxford, located at 6099 Fairfield Road.

Awards

• Ken Rubin, owner of Deck the Walls at Kenwood Towne Centre, has been named to DECOR Magazine's 2003 Top 100 Art & Framing Retailers list, published in the August issue.

• Heidi Shepherd, senior account executive at New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Cincinnati, has been recognized with the corporate One in a Million Award.

• Ila Rubin, care team manager of the Memory Support program at The Deupree Community, received the Ann Schmidt Luggen Award from the Greater Cincinnati Gerontological Nursing Association.
