Delta Air Lines' flights arrived within 15 minutes of schedule 77.7 percent of the time in August, ranking the airline ninth among major carriers, the Transportation Department said Wednesday.
Overall, airlines were on time according to federal standards 79 percent of the time, while passengers filed 30 percent fewer complaints during the month than during August 2002.
Erlanger-based regional carrier Comair, which is not required to provide data to the government, said its planes were on time 75 percent of the time during August and that it completed 97.1 percent of its flights.
Delta operates its second-largest hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, and Comair has its largest operation there. The local airport had an on-time arrival rate of 78 percent, and an on-time departure rate of 82.6 percent. Those rates ranked 15th in both categories among the nation's 31 largest airports.
