Snow agrees to four-year contract
The Associated Press
PHILADELPHIA - Eric Snow and the 76ers agreed Friday on a four-year contract extension that will keep the point guard in Philadelphia through the 2008-09 season.
Terms were not announced, and the extension begins in the 2005-06 season.
Snow averaged a career-best 12.9 points with a team-high 6.7 assists.
Snow told the media Thursday he had reached an agreement in principle with the Sixers.
"I don't have to worry about free agency," Snow he said. "If I'd have liked it, I wouldn't have done this. I did what I wanted to do."
HAWKS: Free agent swingman Stephen Jackson signed with Atlanta Friday, then watched the first practice.
The 6-foot-8 Jackson helped the San Antonio Spurs win the NBA championship last season. He ranked third on the team in playoff scoring at 12.8 points a game.
CAVS: Dajuan Wagner sat out of the Cavaliers' first full-team practice Friday because of swelling in his right knee. He is listed as day-to-day.
TIMBERWOLVES: Latrell Sprewell reported to Minnesota's training camp Friday, a day after he was a no-show at the team's media day at Target Center.
BRYANT CASE: The woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape attempted suicide twice this year but feels emotionally strong as the case against the NBA star proceeds, a friend said.
In an interview to be aired Saturday on CBS's 48 Hours Investigates, Johnray Strickland confirmed the 19-year-old woman attempted suicide twice this year.
"I think we have all moved on from that, and that was a dark time," he said.
The prosecutor in the rape case against Bryant has asked for nearly $200,000 next year to handle expenses, including hiring sexual assault and trauma experts.
District Attorney Mark Hurlbert asked for $45,500 on expert witnesses and $143,000 for extra staffing, said Krista Flannigan, his spokeswoman. Those witnesses include specialists in rape trauma and a jury consultant, she said.
