Grant boosts science, math


In the schools

The Cincinnati Public school district is a member of Ohio's High Achievement in Math and Science Consortium, along with Deer Park, Fairfield, Finneytown, Forest Hills, Kings, Lakota, Loveland, Madeira, Mason, Princeton, Reading and Wyoming.

They share a $35 million grant from the National Science Foundation, aimed at improving science and math teaching in K-12 schools.

The five-year project, funded under the National Science Foundation's Math and Science Partnerships Program, is in about 70 Ohio and Michigan school districts.

Teachers train to work with community

ALEXANDRIA - Three Campbell County teachers will participate in a leadership training program sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Leadership Foundation. They are Geoff Besecker of Campbell County High School and Allison Colvin and Kendrea Tillet of Campbell County Middle School.

The program's goal is to bring a diverse group of motivated teachers together with community leaders and resources to help each other address community concerns.

Wyoming musicians hold free concert

WYOMING - Students in the Wyoming High School strings program will perform a Harvest Concert, open to the public, 7:30 p.m. today at the school's Pendery Center for the Arts, 106 Pendery Ave.

Attendees are asked to bring a canned/dry good for the Drop-Inn Center.

Goshen High School: Film project done

GOSHEN - A new Goshen High School class, Street Law, team taught by Jennifer Rammel and Goshen Police School Resource Officer Tim Budai, recently completed a project in which students filmed an antidrug commercial.

The commercial, by senior Joe Popp , juniors David Reid and Selena Walters and sophomore Betty Baker , is being submitted to a competition. The commercial featured a student overdosing and being carried out by Goshen emergency personnel.

Hopewell pupils' artworks at store

WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP - Customers at the Tylersville Road Meijer store are being treated to artwork by Hopewell Elementary School's third-graders. , Wall space next to the customer service counter is reserved for student work.
