DAYTON - A power outage shut down flights at Dayton International Airport for about three hours Sunday, and a separate outage affected about 14,400 other Dayton Power and Light Co. customers.
The outages were not connected, said DPL spokesman Bryce Nickel. The airport outage was caused by a failure in an underground cable, while the other in north Dayton was caused by downed power lines, he said.
Power went out at the airport and the facilities on the road leading to the main terminal about 7:20 a.m., said airport spokeswoman Sharon Sears.
"We did have one flight come in during that time, but most flights were delayed because we could not screen anyone through the security checkpoint," she said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the vehicle fire, but the flames already had spread to the two-story wood frame house and had climbed to the attic, said District Two chief Gary Scott.
No one was injured. Two adults and two children living in the home were displaced and assisted by the American Red Cross.
