Mary Zimmerman, Tony Award-winning best director for the Broadway run of Metamorphoses, will discuss the evolution of the New York hit in a free lecture at 5 p.m. Nov. 2 in Playhouse in the Park's Marx Theatre.
Zimmerman, a recipient of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellowship (popularly known as the "genius grant") will appear as part of Playhouse Perspectives in conjunction with the Playhouse production of Metamorphoses, a modern reconsideration of Ovid's stories of gods and humans. It opens Oct. 21 and continues through Nov. 21.
