Frisch's Restaurants Inc. said Friday that profits for its first quarter rose 12.7 percent to $3.3 million, or 68 cents a share, compared to $2.9 million, or 58 cents a share, for the same period a year ago.
Revenue rose 10.4 percent to $77.4 million from $70.1 million in the first quarter last year.
Sales at Frisch's Big Boy restaurants rose 4.8 percent, marking the 23rd quarter out of the past 24 in which Big Boy sales have increased.
Frisch's also operates grill buffet-style restaurants under the name Golden Corral. All of its restaurants are in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
In other earnings news:
First Franklin Corp. - The parent of Franklin Savings and Loan Co. posted a 1.5 percent gain in third-quarter profits.
The company earned $393,000, or 24 cents a share, compared with $387,000, or 24 cents a share, during last year's third quarter.
Blue Ash-based First Franklin, with assets of about $300 million, operates eight branches in Hamilton County.
