NKU troupe dances below Newport levee

These dancers have kicked up their heels far and wide - but this is the first time they've performed during an event that also includes such names as B.B. King and Emmylou Harris.

The Northern Kentucky University dance troupe and musical theater troupe are performing twice each night of the Tall Stacks festival in Newport below the levee.

The high-energy show includes the foxtrot, selections from musical theater of different eras and the ever-popular cancan. Their themed performance has been tailored to Tall Stacks and includes some river-related music.

"But when you come down to it, it's pretty girls in pretty skirts," said Jen Martin, 20, an NKU senior and one of the dancers.
