Kids walking to raise money for St. James

In the schools

WYOMING - St. James of the Valley will hold its second annual Walk-a-thon fund-raiser Friday.

Students in grades K-4 will walk a three-mile route through Wyoming, while those in grades 5-8 are walking five miles.

Each child is collecting tax-deductible pledges before the walk, with proceeds going to the school's parent-teacher group.

Last year's Walk-a-thon raised more than $10,000.

Money will go toward providing more computers in the classrooms; arts, math and science programs; and upgrading playground equipment.

'You Can't Take It With You' presented

FAIRFIELD TWP. - Cincinnati Christian High School's drama department will present You Can't Take It With You Thursday through Friday at the Indian Springs campus, 7474 Morris Road.

Performances begin 7 p.m. each night. Matinees will be 10 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Tickets are $10, $6 students. All matinee tickets are $6. To reserve tickets, call 874-8500 or 892-8500.

St. Paul Lutheran honored for milestone

MADISONVILLE - St. Paul Lutheran School is one of only 500 schools nationally to be awarded accreditation by the National Lutheran School Accreditation Commission. The school recently received a certificate for achieving the distinction for seven years.

Holocaust survivor to talk at Country Day

INDIAN HILL - Holocaust survivor Gerda Weissmann Klein will speak with Cincinnati Country Day students 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Friday.

Klein wrote One Survivor Remembers, an Academy Award-winning documentary about her experiences, and has been featured on 60 Minutes and Nightline. She will speak to students in grades 8-12.

Mary Queen of Heaven teachers hold yard sale

ERLANGER - Mary Queen of Heaven School, 1130 Donaldson Road, will hold its biannual teachers' yard sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the school's multipurpose room.

The event, held each fall and spring, features an assortment of donated items, including clothing, furniture and household accessories.

All money raised is divided among the teachers to be used for classroom supplies.

La Salle hopes to fill truck with canned goods

GREEN TOWNSHIP - La Salle High School will kick off its fifth annual Truck Full of Love project Monday.

This year's goal is collect enough canned goods to fill a 53-inch semitrailer truck by Nov. 30. Last year, students collected more than 70,000 canned goods.

Students will be going door-to-door collecting canned goods during the three-week campaign.

Donations may also be dropped off at the truck outside the school's main entrance, 3091 North Bend Road.
