Gannett News Service

Must-See

According to Jim, 8 and 9 p.m., Channels 9, 2

While revamping 8 Simple Rules, ABC temporarily tosses in two new episodes of this pleasant show. Both have Jim (Jim Belushi) struggling to do right by his young daughters, Gracie (Billi Bruno) and Ruby (Taylor Atelian).

In the first episode, he thinks the girls should learn about money and sets them up with a lemonade stand. That incites competition with the neighbors. In the second, he takes them to a scary movie. His wife disapproves.

Other shows worth watching

Whoopi, 8 p.m., Channels 5, 22. One member of the Ebony Blackbirds, Mavis' old singing trio, has died. At the funeral, the third person (played by Sheryl Lee Ralph) arrives, looking flashy and ambitious.

I'm With Her, 8:30 p.m., Channels 2, 9. Accompanying his movie-star girlfriend on a film junket, Patrick sees what other boyfriends are like.

Frasier, 9 p.m., Channels 5, 22. In a late change, NBC is inserting this funny episode in which Frasier winds up speaking in Klingon at his son's bar mitzvah. Meanwhile, Daphne fumes when she learns Niles and Lilith once had a night of passion.

I Love the '80s Strikes Back, 9-11 p.m., VH1. The original '80s series was a delight, so VH1 has a new version all week. Tonight, we revisit goofy moments from 1982-83, ranging from G.I. Joe dolls to kangaroo shoes and fight scenes with Dynasty divas.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, 10 p.m., Channels 5, 22. Two deaths - a newborn baby and a young mother - lead the investigation into some tough areas.

NYPD Blue, 10 p.m., Channels 2,9. Diane Russell, the character played so well by Kim Delaney, makes a brief return. She helps track a serial rapist.

Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, 10:30 p.m., MTV. In this season finale, Nick's plans to surprise Jessica with an intimate getaway to San Diego are constantly foiled. But despite delays and bad weather, Nick makes one of Jessica's dreams become true by taking her for a ride in a hot air balloon.
