I've been driving back and forth to Richmond, Ind., quite a bit lately.
And each time I do, it's an enormous mathematical feat to correctly coordinate everything in Hoosier time and Ohio time.
It has to be even tougher for those who actually live in Indiana.
After all, the state embraces three different time arrangements.
Most of Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone - 76 counties. They follow it year-round. They simply don't change their clocks when the rest of us do.
Ever.
Eleven counties are in the Central Time Zone and do change their clocks. They spring forward and fall back when daylight-saving time dictates.
Confused yet?
And five other counties - including two near us, Dearborn and Ohio - swing between Eastern standard and daylight-saving time.
Luckily, most Hoosiers will fall back in line on Sunday when daylight-saving time ends.
We'll set our clocks back at 2 a.m. Sunday.
And I will finally stop arriving places an hour early - or two late.
As an added bonus, we lucky Eastern-timers will get a whopping extra hour to play with on Sunday.
For people who already find themselves with too much time on their hands, here are a few ideas on how to handle an additional 3,600 seconds.
Indulge your inner geek - Do the gamer thing. Because if you waste 25 hours a week on Halo or Magic, you might as well fritter away another one.
Eat some fat - I'm not talkin' about French fries here. I'm talkin' about some reeeal fatty fat. Onion rings wrapped in bacon and drizzled with cheese. Ice cream drenched in Magic Shell and spooned over pizza. After all, you now have an extra hour to diet ... you know, later.
Party like it's daylight-saving time - Attend the TriCounty Players' Fall-Back fund-raiser, which boasts crafts and baked goods. Noon to 5 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.
Zzzz - Most of us could use a good thick slice of quality sleep. Plus, it's another hour to recover from the extra partying you did.
Drink coffee - Because it'll make the first hour of your day not totally suck.
Drive to Dayton - It's only an hour away. And that town is a lot like a dorky cousin - it's kind of boring, but you have to see him occasionally for no reason.
Play around - Go see Metamorphoses at Eden Park's Cincinnati Playhouse in Park, 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Come to see the 30-foot swimming pool as well as the take on Greek and Roman myths. Then stay for the party afterward, part of a new series of post-show events for people under 40.
Watch half a movie - I heard the end of Kill Bill stinks anyway.
Get a massage - Your muscles will be tired from holding up your body for a whole 'nother hour. Or whatever.
Reset the clocks - It really does take me an hour to do this.
Work an extra hour - Or just say you did.
Because there's only one thing better than standard time.
Overtime.
