Haunted Halloween Trail
VILLA HILLS - The city of Villa Hills will hold its annual Haunted Halloween Trail 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Franzen Field. The event will feature face-painting, games, refreshments for a nominal fee and an appearance by the Cincinnati Swarm cheerleaders. Information: (859) 341-1515.
Boone homemakers cookbook
BURLINGTON - The Boone County Extension Homemakers are selling their new cookbook, Our Favorite Recipes, through the mail for $13. The cookbook contains more than 600 recipes from members.
Books may be purchased by mailing checks or money orders to the Boone County Extension Homemakers, care of Rae Beasley, treasurer, 71 Circle Drive, Florence, KY 41042.
Cookbooks will also be available for $10 including tax at the Ellis Cooperative Extension Center, 6028 Camp Ernst Road, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and on the following Fridays: Oct. 31; Nov. 7, 14 and 21; and Dec. 5 and 12.
100-booth holiday craft fair
ERLANGER - The 5th annual St. Henry District High School holiday craft fair will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the school, 3755 Scheben Drive. Admission is $1. The fair features more than 100 booths. Proceeds benefit the parent-teacher organization.
Pig roast is park fund-raiser
PETERSBURG - The first Split Rock Conservation Park fund-raiser will be 4-9 p.m. Saturday at the park.
Cost is $25 per person, and will include a pig roast and music by the Rabbit Hash String Band. There will be a silent auction and raffle.

Halloween events at park
INDEPENDENCE - Today and Saturday will be Halloween Night of Frights for Kenton County Parks and Recreation at Mills Road Park.
Today begins with Not-So-Scary stories for younger visitors at 6 p.m., presented by Laura Davies from the Independence Branch of the Kenton County Public Library.
The quarter-mile Haunted Halloween Trail will be open 7-10 p.m. The torch-lit trail features ghosts, goblins, witches and an assortment of creatures. "Bat's Blood" and "Witches' Brew" will be served, and a hayride shuttle will be available to the parking area.
Bring any pumpkin on Saturday from 1-4 p.m., and take it to the Great Pumpkin Races at the park. Pumpkins will be matched in weight classes for a timed roll down a 24-foot wooden ramp. Prizes will be awarded.

Villa Hills halloween party
VILLA HILLS - Food, drinks, live music and prizes for costumes will be part of the Villa Hills Civic Club Halloween Party 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. today. There is a $5 cover charge; costumes and membership in the club are not required. The club is at 729 Rogers Road. Information: (859) 341-7227.
Halloween for kids, teens
COLD SPRING - There will be events Friday and Saturday for children at the Cold Spring branch of the Campbell County Library on 3920 Alexandria Pike.
Today at 6 p.m., teens 14 and up can solve a murder mystery while dressing up in costume and enjoying pizza. Saturday at 1 p.m., children in grades 1-6 can dress in costume and enjoy treats, play games and listen to stories. Both events are free, but registration is required. Information: (859) 781-6166.
Live bats to visit library
COVINGTON - The Cincinnati Museum Center staff will bring live bats to the Covington branch of the Kenton County Public Library at 1 p.m. Saturday for a Halloween show. The library is at 502 Scott Blvd.
Hear eerie tales, eat pizza
INDEPENDENCE - Hear eerie tales read by Martha McLeod at "Just Scary Enough Stories," Saturday at the Independence branch of the Kenton County Public Library.
