HYDE PARK - Margaret "Margie" Klingeman, a longtime Hyde Park resident and civic volunteer, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash.
"She was the ultimate giving, loving person," said her daughter, Marnie Stelzer of Anderson Township. "She always thought of everyone else. Until the very end, she was always trying to please everybody."
Mrs. Klingeman, 85, was a Red Cross Gray Lady at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and a Salvation Army American Hostess at the International Visitor's Center
She also was a volunteer at Christ and Drake hospitals, the Cincinnati Reader's Workshop and Knox Presbyterian Church.
Growing up in Warren, Ohio, Mrs. Klingeman loved all sports. As a girl, she played basketball and baseball and ran track.
A loyal supporter of the Reds and the Bengals, "Margie would carry a portable radio with her everywhere to stay up with the Reds' score," said Bill Klingeman, her husband of 62 years.
Mrs. Klingeman was an avid golfer and a 40-year member of Hyde Park Golf and Country Club. She summered in Northern Michigan and wintered in Naples, Fla.
In addition to her husband and daughter, survivors include a son, Bill Klingeman Jr. of Anderson Township, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Knox Presbyterian Church, 3400 Michigan Ave., Hyde Park. A private burial will be at the Spring Grove Mausoleum.
