NORTH COLLEGE HILL - A North College Hill woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a rare shooting in this Hamilton County suburb of more than 10,000.
Jainelle Gaffney, 18, was found lying on the curb at Columbine Court and Clovernook Drive about 11:45 p.m., police said.
She was airlifted to University Hospital.
This is the first shooting in North College Hill this year, police said.
There was one domestic-related homicide earlier in the year.
Detectives were attempting to find a white full-size sedan, possibly an older-model Chevrolet Caprice, with stripes on the sides and a loud exhaust system.
The car was seen fleeing immediately after the shooting.
It happened outside the Pine Meadow Apartment complex, sometimes called the Columbine Court Apartments.
The shooting is being investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department for North College Hill Police.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office at 825-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
