Today's top games

No. 1 Oklahoma (7-0) at Colorado (3-4)

Time/TV: 7 p.m./TBS.

Line: Oklahoma by 25.

Outlook: In theory, this could be a trap game for the Sooners with arch-rival Oklahoma State up next. But Colorado, the only team in the country surrendering more than 40 points a game, can't hang with Oklahoma's offense.

No. 4 Southern California (6-1) at Washington (4-3)

Time/TV: 3:30 p.m. /No TV

Line: USC by 10.

Outlook: After thumping Notre Dame, the Trojans return to Pacific-10 play to face the suddenly dangerous Huskies. With 9,090 yards, Washington's Cody Pickett is seventh on the Pac-10 passing list.

Alabama-Birmingham (3-4) at No. 5 Georgia (6-1)

Time/TV: 1. /No TV

Line: Georgia by 28 1/2.

Outlook: Bulldogs step out of SEC play with Florida looming. UAB nearly toppled unbeaten TCU last week but will be without QB Darrell Hackney (thumb).

Oregon State (5-2) at No. 6 Washington State (6-1)

Time/TV: 6:30 p.m./FSN.

Line: Washington State by 8.

Outlook: The Beavers' meltdown against Washington notwithstanding, they have enough weapons to ruin Washington State's day. The Cougars could be looking ahead to USC.

Wake Forest (4-3) at No. 7 Florida State (6-1)

Time/TV: 3:30 p.m. /No TV

Line: Florida State by 18 1/2.

Outlook: FSU looks to strengthen its hold on its Atlantic Coast Conference lead. Though the Seminoles struggled to find the end zone last week at Virginia, QB Chris Rix led a turnover-free effort.

Florida State is 11-0 in ACC games against the Deacons.

No. 8 Ohio State (6-1) at Indiana (1-6)

Time/TV: Noon/ESPN.

Line: Ohio State by 21. Sagarin ratings: Ohio State 83.99, Indiana 59.79.

Outlook: Defense, the aphorism goes, wins championships. Ohio State might be relying on it too much, but LB A.J. Hawk and Co. should control the Hoosiers. Indiana's top threat, RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, won't find many gaps. QB Matt LoVecchio has two TD passes and six interceptions this season. The Hoosiers, surrendering 407 yards a game, could be the cure for the ills of the Buckeyes offense. OSU QB Craig Krenzel must get WR Michael Jenkins more touches. RBs Maurice Hall and Lydell Ross will try to find their rhythm. Ohio State leads Indiana 61-12-5 all time and has a 10-game series winning streak.

No. 10 Purdue (6-1) at No. 15 Michigan (6-2)

Time/TV: 3:30/Channels 9, 2.

Line: Michigan by 5.

Outlook: Purdue looks to maintain its clean league slate. Michigan can win the conference but must negotiate a brutal finishing schedule. Michigan's Chris Perry is a yard away from his second straight 1,000-yard rushing season.

Iowa State (2-5) at No. 11 Nebraska (6-1)

Time/TV: 12:30 p.m./No TV

Line: Nebraska by 23.

Outlook: The Huskers are back on course to win the Big 12 North and should overpower struggling Cyclones.

No. 13 TCU (7-0) at Houston (5-2)

Time/TV: 8 p.m. /No TV

Line: TCU by 6.

Outlook: TCU QB Tye Gunn (leg) could be sidelined again. Cougars hope to bounce back from Memphis loss.

No. 14 Northern Illinois (7-0) at Bowling Green (6-1)

Time/TV: 4 p.m./ESPN2.

Line: Bowling Green by 3 1/2.

Outlook: This MAC clash won't determine the West Division title; both teams must contend with Toledo.

Penn St. (2-5) at No. 16 Iowa (5-2)

Time/TV: Noon/Channels 9, 2.

Line: Iowa by 10 1/2.

Outlook: Penn State's week off brought more bad news with leading WR Tony Johnson's DUI arrest. The QB position is unsettled; Michael Robinson has been inconsistent, but Zack Mills (knee) might not be available.

No. 17 Wisconsin (6-2) at Northwestern (3-4)

Time/TV: 1 p.m./ESPN2.

Line: Wisconsin by 10.

Outlook: Wisconsin QB Matt Schabert has many things going for him as he makes his first start in place of Jim Sorgi (knee). His RB corps, led by Anthony Davis, appears to be at full strength.

Baylor (3-4) at No. 18 Texas (5-2)

Time/TV: 7 p.m./No TV

Line: Texas by 33.

Outlook: Longhorns QB Vince Young is settling into starting role.

No. 19 Oklahoma State (6-1) at Texas A&M (3-4)

Time/TV: 3:30 p.m.

Line: Oklahoma State by 6.

Outlook: The Cowboys must avoid thinking about next week's date with Oklahoma. A quick start by QB Josh Fields would help.

No. 20 Arkansas (4-2) at Mississippi (5-2)

Time/TV: 7:15 p.m./ESPN2.

Line: Ole Miss by 1.

Outlook: Veteran QB Eli Manning has the Rebels in contention for the league title after a shaky September.

No. 21 Auburn (5-2) at No. 9 LSU (6-1)

Time/TV: 7:45/ESPN.

Line: LSU by 3 1/2.

Outlook: The winner will be well positioned to reach the conference championship game. LSU bounced back from its loss to Florida with a solid effort against South Carolina.

No. 22 Tennessee (4-2) at Alabama (3-5)

Time/TV: 3:30/Channels 12, 7.

Line: Tennessee by 3.

Outlook: These historic rivals who often play for conference titles are trying to salvage their seasons.

No. 24 Minnesota (6-2) at Illinois (1-7)

Time/TV: Noon/Channel 12.

Line: Minnesota by 14 1/2.

Outlook: Illini, without QB Jon Beutjer (back), won't get sympathy from Gophers, seeking to snap two-game slide. Notre Dame (2-4) at Boston College (4-3)

Time/TV: Noon.

Line: Boston College by 4.

Outlook: This year's "Catholic Bowl" finds both teams in need of a win to preserve fading postseason hopes. A low-scoring affair is likely as both defenses concentrate on stopping the run. Boston College seeks its third consecutive win against the Irish.
