Halloween clean-up: If the goblins pay you a visit for Halloween, you may wake up Saturday to toilet paper cascading from your trees, eggs dripping down the windows, garbage cans in your lawn and pumpkins smashed on the sidewalk. Put the hot chocolate on hold and get to work, says The Money Pit News Bureau, a syndicated radio show.
Eggs can damage painted surfaces and wood siding. Use ammonia (to neutralize the egg's acid) and water to scrub doors, windows, siding and trim.
Use a long-handled branch trimmer on the toilet paper in the trees. Use the hose's power spray to wash scraps down.
Pumpkins can make for slippery sidewalks. Pick up the large pieces and hose off with detergent like Pine Sol.
To prevent damage, leave floodlights on and lights in the house Halloween night and make sure bikes, cars, toys and garbage cans are indoors. And put your jack-o'-lantern inside when trick-or-treating is over. Information: www.888moneypit.com.

Flower Framers featured: Curb Appeal, the HGTV show that shows how to make the most of a home's all-important first impression, recently put a local biz, Flower Framers window boxes, in the spotlight. The home, a San Francisco suburban ranch, received a landscaper's facelift with an Asian-inspired theme that included five custom-painted window boxes from Flower Framers in Linwood. The self-watering fiberglass boxes come in lengths from 2 to 5 feet (or custom sizes) with built-in drainage systems and hanging brackets fitted to the box. They also come with stainless steel hanging brackets for railings, balconies, fences, decks and porches. $93 and up.
