The titles are interesting and the price is always right at theater on area university campuses:
Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, a comedy about five bridesmaids in an ostentatious Knoxville, Tenn., wedding (and written by the guy who created Six Feet Under!) plays Thursday through Nov. 9 at Northern Kentucky University. (859) 572-5464.
At Xavier University, guest artist Reggie Willis (wonderful last season in Two Trains Running and Master Harold...and the Boys, at Know Tribe and Queen City Off-Broadway, respectively) takes the central role in August Wilson's powerhouse Fences. Through Nov. 2. 745-3939.
Two, set in 1948 Germany, focuses on the relationship between a rabbi-turned-atheist after he survives Auschwitz and the woman who asks him to teach her Hebrew so she can settle in Palestine. It's on stage at Miami University in Oxford. (513) 529-3200.)
Definitely worth a drive, composer Ricky Ian Gordon and librettist/director Tina Landau collaborate on the world premiere of States of Independence opening Thursday at Wright State University in Fairborn.
