UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - Two people died Saturday night in a fire being investigated by the Cincinnati arson squad and homicide unit. It burned a three-story vacant building near the University of Cincinnati campus.
Fire authorities think the deceased were homeless people who were squatting in the condemned building at 46 W. McMillan Street in University Heights.
Around 10:25 p.m., firefighters were dispatched. They found bodies of one male and one female inside the burning structure.
The male, whose name is being withheld until his family is notified, was dead when firefighters arrived.
The woman, Clara Young, 44, of Cincinnati, was unconscious upon arrival at University Hospital and died a few hours later.
Results of an investigation will not be available until, at earliest, later this week.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040. Callers can remain anonymous.
