Today's career tip

Younger workers should not plan out an entire career, warns What Next? The Complete Guide to Taking Control of Your Working Life. "The fast-changing nature of work makes this impossible," author Barbara Moses, Ph.D., said. "When entering a workplace where a conventional job may last only a few years, and work is increasingly done by contract or external suppliers, you should focus on building a portfolio of skills and experiences that will ensure longer-term employability."

Today's money tip:

Although the time may be ripe to buy a new home, finding the right property is not always that simple. Several considerations must be taken into account before you start out. If you're looking to buy, there are a number of informative books detailing the pros and cons of purchasing a house. One is the The Everything Home Buying Book, 2nd ed by Mark B. Weiss and Ruth Rejnis, published by Adams Media Corp., 2003 ($14.95). It instructs on how to choose and secure the right loan plus home inspection and more.

Today's Company: Air-Tite Home Products

Window Of Opportunity: Air-Tite was founded in 1978 by Dale Yates, an engineer who had invented a new design for vinyl replacement windows. With patent in hand, he opened a 5,000-square-foot facility in Cincinnati. Today, the company is based in West Chester and boasts a manufacturing operation of almost 100,000 square feet. It employs about 275.

Expansion: Earlier this year, Air-Tite added entry doors and storage systems to its product line. It has served thousands of homeowners in the Tristate and has expanded to 14 locations in nine states. The company thinks of itself as a one-stop shop, offering estimating, manufacturing, installation, and even financing for purchases of its products.

One-Of-A-Kind: The company custom-builds each window for a specific customer, and says it offers the only fully-reinforced vinyl replacement window on the market.
