Last-minute donations on the final day of Greater Cincinnati's United Way annual fund drive pushed the campaign past a $60.5 million goal.
Organizers Thursday said that they raised $60.518 million, chasing away the specter of last year's $1.8 million shortfall.
"We should all be tremendously proud of what we accomplished together," said Michael Fisher, campaign co-chair and Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce president.
Almost 800 people attended a celebration luncheon Thursday at the Cincinnati Convention Center where the numbers were announced. Not every regional campaign was so lucky.
The Warren County United Way, $320,000 short of a $2.45 million goal, extended its deadline a couple of weeks.
The Butler County United Way raised $2.7 million - short of a $3.2 million goal. United Way of Greater Cincinnati supports 160 agencies in eight Ohio and Kentucky counties that offer programs from Scouting to substance abuse counseling.
Procter & Gamble was the largest donor at $13.275 million, followed by Fifth Third Bank at $3.583 million.
