The Insatiable Shopper

Scouting the marketplace with Joy Kraft

Sugar pop laptops: Until recently, laptop carryalls were heavy-duty, dull fabrics, too ho-hum for fashionable laptop ladies after a little color in their case. Two companies, one co-owned by a Cincinnati Country Day alum, finally have offered a rainbow of pop-op color choices - kiwi, pink, strawberry, blue. Julie Lazarus, who grew up in Cincinnati, is designer and co-owner of Talene Reilly in New York, churning out leather and Teflon-coated fabric cases with a removable laptop sleeve, drop-tested polyethylene foam, CD and power cord pockets for $276 and up. www.talenereilly.com. Casauri of New Jersey offers cases to fit the new 16-inch laptops by Apple, Sony and Dell at www.casauri.com. Plug in your laptop and it will give you choices for $52 and up.

Puppy print: You have your first-born's foot or handprint framed and matted. Now how about Fido's? Discovery Stores have a no mix-, no-mess kit with air-dry impression material and a finished 11-by-7-inch wood frame to accommodate print and a 4-by-6-inch photo as well. $29.95. Kenwood Towne Centre.
