Today's Top 25 games

No. 15 Oklahoma State (7-1) at No. 1 Oklahoma (8-0)

Time: 3:30 p.m.

Line: Oklahoma by 16.

Points: The Bedlam battle features two of the country's highest-scoring offenses. Oklahoma's top-five defense could make the difference. The Sooners must deal first with nemesis WR Rashaun Woods, a job that will belong to CB Derrick Strait and S Brandon Everage. OSU QB Josh Fields must make use of his secondary targets, WRs D'Juan Woods and Gabe Lindsay. But the key to the Cowboys' offense could be RB Tatum Bell, who is second in the nation in rushing but has occasional fumbling problems. He'll try to find room against Oklahoma's superb front seven, anchored by DT Tommie Harris and LB Teddy Lehman. DE Greg Richmond gives the Cowboys their best chance to disrupt Oklahoma QB Jason White. Don't blink during punts; the Sooners' Antonio Perkins has four TDs, but the Cowboys have their own threat in CB Darrent Williams.

No. 2 Miami (7-0) at No. 11 Virginia Tech (6-1)

Time/TV: 7:45 p.m./ESPN.

Line: Miami by 3 1/2.

Points: Virginia Tech's unraveling at West Virginia was brought on by two developments - its inability to stop a straight-ahead ground attack and QB Bryan Randall's failure to compensate when the Mountaineers sold out to stop RB Kevin Jones. Miami RBs Jarrett Payton and Tyrone Moss will try to exploit the first shortcoming. Tech's defensive tackle tandem of brothers Kevin and Jonathan Lewis must tie up G Vernon Carey and Miami's outstanding offensive line to allow LB Vegas Robinson and S Michael Crawford to make tackles. QB Brock Berlin and TE Kellen Winslow have worked enough magic to keep the Hurricanes unbeaten, but Miami needs a deep threat. If Tech C Jake Grove and Co. can't create room for Jones against Miami DT Vince Wilfork and LB Jonathan Vilma, Randall and WR Ernest Wilford must get in sync. Miami FS Sean Taylor has turned two INTs into TDs this year.

No. 6 Washington State (7-1) at No. 3 Southern Cal (7-1)

Time: 7 p.m.

Line: USC by 12.

Points: The Trojans picked a tough opponent for homecoming but have plenty of incentive as they try to avenge last year's overtime loss. The featured attractions are the quarterbacks, USC's Matt Leinart and WSU's Matt Kegel. Leinart faces a defense that has 18 interceptions, tied for first nationally with Nebraska. Trojans WR Mike Williams is fighting a sore ankle; if he can play, he will have a 9-inch height advantage on WSU CB Jason David. Cougars SS Erik Coleman and Virgil Williams can help, but they can't ignore Leinart's other top target, WR Keary Colbert. USC can change pace with several TBs, led by explosive freshmen Reggie Bush and LenDale White. Kegel must shake off his seven-turnover outing from last week's escape from Oregon State. The Trojans' athletic defensive line, bookended by Kenechi Udeze and Omar Nazel, will try not to let him get comfortable. USC LB Matt Grootegoed (ankle) is probable after sitting out the Washington win.

No. 4 Georgia (7-1) vs. No. 21 Florida (5-3)

Time/TV: 3:30 p.m., at Jacksonville, Fla./Ch. 12, 7.

Line: Georgia by 2 1/2.

Points: This year's "cocktail party" will give Georgia a commanding lead in the Southeastern Conference East or create a three-way logjam. Despite being held together with chicken wire and duct tape, the Bulldogs' defense has held opponents to three-and-out on 44 of 101 possessions. LB-FS Thomas Davis will be busy in support against Florida RBs Ran Carthon and DeShawn Wynn and in coverage against Gators WR Kelvin Kight. The Dawgs hope DE David Pollack (leg) will be available to lead the rush against Gators QB Chris Leak, who must shake the butterflies when playing in front of his own fans. Bulldogs QB David Greene could regain the services of WR Fred Gibson in certain situations, but he must watch out for Florida CB Keiwan Ratliff. The Gators' top blitzer is LB Bobby McCray. Georgia must get yardage from TB Michael Cooper to negate the pass rush.

No. 5 Florida State (7-1) at Notre Dame (2-5)

Time: 2:30 p.m./Ch. 5, 22.

Line: Florida State by 11 1/2.

Points: Though the Boston College game fell in the "L" column, QB Brady Quinn and the Notre Dame offense took a step forward. Moving the ball through the air will be more difficult against the Seminoles' speed, so Irish RB Julius Jones will have to find openings against Seminoles DT Darnell Dockett and LB Michael Boulware. FSU has RBs Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker back in action. They'll help QB Chris Rix find passing lanes if Notre Dame FS Glenn Earl has to play in run support. But early miscues often snowball on Rix, and Irish DE Justin Tuck will try to bother him.

Louisiana Tech (4-4) at No. 8 LSU (7-1)

Time: 8 p.m.

Line: LSU by 26 1/2.

Points: Tech QB Luke McCown will try to spoil LSU's homecoming. The Tigers' helmets will bear the initials of equipment manager Jeff Boss, who died of brain cancer Monday.

No. 9 Nebraska (7-1) at No. 16 Texas (6-2)

Time: Noon.

Line: Texas by 5 1/2

Points: Nebraska controls its destiny in the Big 12 North. The Longhorns will need help to win the South, but a second league loss will be all but impossible to overcome. Still, the Cornhuskers are not without problems. Topping the list is an offense that produced only 13 first downs against Iowa State. One solution could be more touches for WB Isaiah Fluellen, who has only three catches and eight carries but three touchdowns. QB Jammal Lord and I-backs Josh Davis and David Horne must beat the speed of Texas LB Derrick Johnson and DE Mike Williams. The switch to mobile QB Vince Young came too late to save Texas against Oklahoma, but his scrambling ability will challenge Nebraska LBs Demorrio Williams and Barrett Ruud. WRs Roy Williams and B.J. Johnson are proven playmakers. They'll have their hands full against FS Josh Bullocks and the Nebraska secondary. Longhorns coach Mack Brown will decide the status of RB Cedric Benson, suspended for the Baylor win, as game time approaches.

No. 12 Michigan (7-2) at No. 10 Michigan St. (7-1)

Time/TV: Noon/Ch. 9, 2.

Line: Michigan by 4.

Points: The Big Ten's marquee game of the week pits the Spartans, alone atop the league, against the Wolverines, who still can carve a path to the Rose Bowl. Michigan State QB Jeff Smoker must be at his best against a defense that stymied Purdue's prolific passing. Spartans WR Agim Shabaj will do battle with Michigan CBs Markus Curry and Jeremy LeSueur. Wolverines LBs Carl Diggs and Lawrence Reid must plug the interior against MSU RB Jaren Hayes, a rushing and receiving threat. MSU LB Mike Labinjo will lead the effort to contain RB Chris Perry. But QB John Navarre could be harder to stop with flashy WRs Braylon Edwards and Jason Avant stretching the field. Spartans DT Matthias Askew must disrupt Navarre enough to give S Eric Smith time to help in coverage.

Illinois (1-8) at No. 14 Iowa (6-2)

Time/TV: Noon/Ch. 12.

Line: Iowa by 25 1/2.

Points: Decimated by injuries, the Illini are running out of chances for a Big Ten victory. Iowa looks to stay unbeaten at home.

Northwestern (4-4) at No. 17 Purdue (6-2)

Time/TV: Noon/ESPN.

Line: Purdue by 18.

Points: Northwestern rekindled bowl hopes by upsetting Wisconsin. Purdue's more diverse offense will be harder to shut down, but the Wildcats have a solid centerpiece in LB Pat Durr and could be effective in short-field situations. Purdue QB Kyle Orton must find ways to get WRs Taylor Stubblefield and John Standeford open in the end zone. If RB Jason Wright can draw attention from Purdue S Stuart Schweigert, QB Brett Basanez must take advantage. Boilermakers LB Niko Koutouvides (knee) should be available.

Duke (2-6) at No. 18 Tennessee (5-2)

Time: 4 p.m.

Line: Tennessee by 24 1/2.

Points: The Vols shouldn't need overtime this week.

Indiana (1-7) at No. 19 Minnesota (7-2)

Time: 2 p.m.

Line: Minnesota by 28.

Points: The Gophers' ground game should overwhelm IU.

Ball State (4-4) at No. 22 Northern Illinois (7-1)

Time: 2 p.m.

Line: Northern Illinois by 15 1/2.

Points: The Cardinals ambushed Toledo, but the element of surprise will be gone against the Huskies, who hope to rebound from their first loss.

No. 23 Pittsburgh (5-2) at Boston College (5-3)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Pittsburgh by 1 1/2.

Points: The Eagles hope to keep Panthers WR Larry Fitzgerald out of the end zone.
