Man shot in robbery attempt
The Cincinnati Enquirer
OVER-THE-RHINE - Police are searching for whoever shot a 44-year-old Cincinnati man in the stomach Saturday morning during a robbery attempt. No arrests have been made.
Tyrone Dixon, whose address is not known, was in stable condition at University Hospital Saturday evening after being shot on Findlay Street at around 8:40 a.m. Investigators said Dixon was sitting in the passenger seat of a friend's 1993 Buick when a black male suspect jumped in the back seat of the car, brandishing a gun and demanding money.
According to police reports, the suspect fired two shots as he exited the vehicle and fled the scene hitting Dixon underneath his right arm. The bullet traveled from one side of Dixon's body to the other, exiting near his left hip.
Dixon's friend, a Kentucky man whose name was not released, drove the victim to District 1 headquarters on Ezzard Charles Drive where he was transported to University Hospital. Cincinnati Police Detective Pat Galligan said shell casings from a 45-caliber handgun were found at the scene of the shooting and inside the vehicle.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact District 1.
