OXFORD, Miss. - Eli Manning threw for 391 yards and three first-half touchdowns, and No. 20 Mississippi withstood a late 28-point outburst to beat South Carolina 43-40 Saturday.
The Rebels (7-2) remained in first place in the Southeastern Conference West and improved to 5-0 in the Southeastern Conference for the first time since 1963 - the last time Ole Miss won the league title.
The Rebels took a 43-14 lead in the third quarter before the Gamecocks (5-4, 2-4) scored touchdowns on four straight possessions.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Fred Russell topped 1,000 yards for the season and Bob Sanders scored on a fumble return for the Hawkeyes (7-2, 3-2 Big Ten), who pushed coach Kirk Ferentz's record with Iowa over .500 (29-28) for the first time. Illinois (1-9, 0-6) lost for the eighth straight time.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Jerod Void ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns as the Boilermakers (7-2, 4-1 Big Ten) took advantage of four Wildcats fumbles.
Purdue's John Standeford had four catches for 88 yards to break the Big Ten record for career receiving yards.
He has 3,418 yards, surpassing Illinois' David Williams, who had 3,392 yards from 1983-85.
Terrell Jordan had 87 yards rushing and 61 yards receiving for Northwestern (4-5, 2-3).

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Chris Hannon caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Casey Clausen to help the Volunteers (6-2) overcome a lackluster effort. Gerald Riggs scored on a 12-yard run with 4:20 to seal the win.

DEKALB, Ill. - Michael Turner ran for 126 yards, had 52 yards receiving and scored three touchdowns for the Huskies. Northern Illinois (8-1, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) forced five turnovers.
Andy Roesch led the Cardinals (4-5, 3-2) to two fourth-quarter scoring drives and was 15-of-22 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

BOSTON - Larry Fitzgerald set an NCAA record with a touchdown catch in his 14th straight game, and tailback Jawan Walker caught a touchdown pass and threw for another score for the Panthers.
Fitzgerald caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Walker for the clinching score in the fourth period. The touchdown came moments after Pittsburgh (6-2, 3-0 Big East) took a 17-13 lead when Walker turned a screen pass by Rod Rutherford into a 47-yard TD play.
Fitzgerald has 28 TD catches in two seasons, also an NCAA record.
