Kaisers On A Roll: The Harry T. Kaiser Pickles and Sauerkraut Co. was founded in 1920 as a food distributor, selling products that were processed and packed mostly by the Farm Packt Pickle Co. of Medina, Ohio. Harry T. Kaiser, Jr.took over from his father in 1967, incorporating ten years later and changing the company name to Kaiser Foods, Inc. Today, the company is headed by Harry Jr.'s son David.
Consolidation: In 1990 Kaiser Foods purchased the Farm Packt Pickle Co. and moved its operations to Cincinnati. The West End company now has two manufacturing facilities in the city plus several pickle-salting yards that contain 500-gallon to 12,000-gallon tanks.
Packing Pickled Peppers: The company's production volume has increased from 1 million pounds of pickles and peppers per year in 1991 to 50 million pounds this year. It also packages vinegars, sauerkraut and imported olives and peppers. Kaiser is a Kosher-approved facility and recently received an "excellent" rating from the USDA.
Who Picks Their Pickles? Customers include food service distributors and industrial consumers in North America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Kaiser sells its products also to the Maisonette as well as to restaurant chains like Frisch's, Izzy's and Olive Garden.
