Mission impossible: A cocktail to make you look like TV star Jennifer Garner.
As CIA agent Sydney Bristow on ABC's Alias, Garner has to dodge bullets and defuse weapons of mass destruction. She jets off to a different hotspot every Sunday night. Invariably, the script requires her to strip to her underwear to save the day. So - in the name of national security - she must stay svelte.
I may have uncovered her secret weapon: the Skinny White Russian.
Garner, 31, is among calorie-conscious celebs, they say, who have sampled this twist on the classic cocktail. Instead of cream, it mixes skim milk or soy milk with traditional Kahlua liqueur and Stolichnaya vodka.
I tried the skim milk and cream versions on the rocks - and liked both. Skim milk has far fewer calories and fat grams, but each is a sweet, dessert-like drink. Pronounced in the skim milk drink are the taste of Stoli and the coffee flavor of Kahlua.
Under interrogation, I might let it slip the cocktail with cream tastes better. It's richer and thicker, looking like melted ice cream. The flavor of coffee dominates, with the cream tempering the vodka.
Keep in mind there's no guarantee the Skinny White Russian will give you the body of Garner. However, it may empower you to thwart the ultimate Doomsday threat: excess pounds.
