U OF CINCINNATI - Law school graduates at University of Cincinnati significantly improved their scores on the most recent Ohio Bar Exam, compared with last year's showing.
Results of the test given in July show UC finished second among the state's nine law schools in the percentage of students who passed the test.
A total of 87 percent of UC's first-time test-takers and 86 percent of the school's overall test-takers passed the bar.
That compares with last year's scores of 80 percent and 79 percent, respectively.
Gloria Steinem
to lecture at MU
MIAMI - Gloria Steinem will present "Feminism 101" at 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at Miami University's Hall Auditorium.
A leader in the women's rights movement, Steinem helped found Ms. magazine, the National Women's Political Caucus and the Women's Action Alliance.
Free tickets will be available to the Miami community starting Wednesday at the box office in the Shriver Center.
Remaining tickets for the general public will be available Nov. 14.
XU appoints
associate dean
XAVIER - Raghuram Tadepalli, a professor and chairman of Xavier University's department of marketing, has been named associate dean of the school's Williams College of Business.
During his six years at Xavier, he has won many awards for his teaching and research, including being voted Teacher of the Year in 2002-03 by students.
A native of India, Tadepalli came to the United States in 1982.
He taught at North Dakota State University and the University of Illinois-Chicago before coming to Xavier in 1997.

at Union Institute
UNION INSTITUTE - Union Institute and University will hold a seminar on community-building and leadership development 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The program, which will be held at the school, 440 E. McMillan St. in Walnut Hills, is being funded by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
It is free to the public.
Presenters include Ray Brokamp, director of Leadership Cincinnati; Jenny Laster, executive director of Grassroots Leadership Academy; and Robert Bell, director of volunteer connection services for the United Way.
Artist's studio
to open to public
MOUNT ST. JOSEPH - The Delhi studio of the late artist John Nartker (1930-98) will be open for viewing and sales Saturday and Sunday and Nov. 15-16.
Narkter, an internationally known artist who was also an art professor at the College of Mount St. Joseph, created silk screens, ceramics and other artwork from his home studio in Delhi Township. Many are in museums or corporate and private collections.
Nartker's wife, Cecilia Nartker, decided to open the studio after five years to fulfill a wish that her husband had to let people enjoy his work.
The Nartker studio, at 352 Robben Lane, will be open 1-4 p.m.
