Space flight basics
UNION - Find out what astronauts needed to have the "right stuff," at the free one-hour program "Space Flight Basics" at 7 p.m. Monday at the Scheben Branch of the Boone County Public Library.
Jeff Foster of Boone County, and a former NASA contractor who taught astronauts about the rigors of space flight, will lead the program.
Both the triumphs and the tragedies will be featured in the presentation. It will begin with the earliest manned space flights, and continue through landing on the moon, the current shuttle program and the international space station.

Explore being volunteer
COVINGTON - An information session about how to volunteer to visit people in nursing homes will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the offices of Senior Services of Northern Kentucky at 1032 Madison Ave.
Volunteers usually spend about three hours per month getting to know residents of a nursing home. Volunteers may also become a certified ombudsman and help work to resolve complaints.
