NKU men stop No. 22 Kennesaw

Mike Kelsey scored 19 points and Steve Purdon added 16 as Northern Kentucky University defeated Kennesaw State, ranked No. 22 in Division II, 78-65 Friday night in the Disney Tipoff Classic at Orlando, Fla.
Adam Howell had 10 points and Sean Rowland totaled seven assists for NKU (1-0), which overcame 20 turnovers.
The Norse were helped by hot long-range shooting, going 12-of-23 (52 percent) on 3-pointers. They shot 62 percent (8-of-13) from behind the arc in the first half on the way to a 37-27 halftime lead.
Kennesaw State (0-1) was led by Terrence Hill's 19 points.
NKU plays Philadelphia at 8:30 p.m. today at Orlando.

UPSTATE BASKETBALL
Upstate is led offensively by John Morton (Seton Hall), who scored 31 in a loss to the Binghamton (N.Y.) University Bearcats on Thursday. Morton averaged 24 points in Upstate's first two games, Frank Wilkins (Saint Joseph's) 14.5 and Harold Deane (Virginia) 13 among starters. Shannon Crooks (Massachusetts) averaged 13.5 off the bench.
FLORIDA: Guard Anthony Roberson was suspended for two exhibition games and the season opener against Montana State for a violation of university policy.
Coach Billy Donovan did not give specifics.
Roberson, a sophomore, averaged 12.3 points last season and was the Southeastern Conference's newcomer of the year. He is an all-SEC selection this season.
