LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Northern Kentucky couldn't hold a six-point halftime lead and fell to South Dakota State 91-76 in the Disney Tipoff Classic Sunday.
The loss was the second straight for NKU, which had upset No. 22 Kennesaw State Friday.
Mike Kelsey scored 23 points to lead the Norse (1-2) which shot only 35.1 percent. Jesse Rupe added 15.
"South Dakota State is a veteran, talented team, and they really shot the ball well in the second half," NKU coach Ken Shields said.
NKU is doesn't play until Nov. 21 when it travels to Gannon.
We played with them for most of the game, but they just hit a lot of big shots and they also made their free throws."
