Veterans' Day closings, events in the area



Clermont County

BATAVIA - The Clermont Republican Party and Club will host a reception 5:30-8:30 p.m. at its headquarters, 197 E. Main St. Marine Corps veteran Ralph Shepherd's collection of armed services uniforms, ranging from the Spanish American War to the Vietnam War, will be on display. Light refreshments will be served.

NEW RICHMOND - Services will be 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial on Susanna Way.

Hamilton County

BLUE ASH - The Blue Ash Veterans Day Committee will host ceremonies beginning 10:30 a.m. at the Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park, corner of Cooper and Hunt roads. Retired Col. Dean Smittle will give the keynote address. Students from Edwin H. Greene Intermediate School Accelerated Language Lab will present a program.

A lunch will follow at the Blue Ash Recreation Center, 4433 Cooper Road. Cost: $3. 745-8510.

CINCINNATI - The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will hold its 49th annual Veterans Day program 10:45 a.m. in the atrium at 800 Vine St., downtown.

World War II veteran Ray "Hap" Halloran will be the keynote speaker. The program also will include the lighting of the Flame of Remembrance, a presentation of commemorative wreaths by veterans organizations and a performance by the Brian Buerkle Brass Quartet. 369-6959.

EDEN PARK - Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 10 will hold a service 11 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. 761-8007.

GREEN TWP. - Ceremonies will take place 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Veterans Park, 6231 Harrison Ave. An M-60A3 Army Tank will be open for tours. A parade will begin at 11 a.m. Robert Doolan, a World War II veteran, will speak. Information: Joe Russo, 574-9757.

MOUNT WASHINGTON - American Legion Post 484 will hold a ceremony 7 p.m. at the memorial on Sutton Avenue. After the ceremony, refreshments will be served at the Legion Hall, 1837 Sutton.

SHARONVILLE - A ceremony will begin 6 p.m. at the Patriot Pointe Veterans Memorial on Thornview Drive.

Warren County

MASON - A parade and ceremony begin at 10:30 a.m. at the community campus between Mason High School and the Mason Municipal Center. At 11 a.m., there will be a flyover, followed by a ceremony at the new Mason Veterans Memorial, 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road.

American Legion Post 194 will hold a luncheon 1-4 p.m. Donations will be accepted.

Northern Kentucky

NEWPORT - VFW Lawler Hanlon Post 5662 will host a parade and ceremony. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at the post, 326 10th St. West and goes to Newport City Hall, where a ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.
