The Cincinnati Enquirer

UNION - A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized Monday night after she was accidentally shot with her father's police service handgun.

The shooting took place about 8:45 p.m. on Tollhouse Drive, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said. The girl's father, an officer with the Campbell County Police Department, was apparently cleaning his gun at his residence when it discharged and struck his daughter, the sheriff's office said.

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati for treatment of what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
