Stoops calls out OU's critics
Enquirer news services
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has never been much for "coffee-table conversation" about his football team, as he calls it.
So it's a little unusual that Stoops reacted so angrily to charges - made specifically by New York Daily News columnist Mike Lupica - that the Sooners ran up the score in their 77-0 rout of Texas A&M.
Lupica said he didn't see the Sooner blowout.
"Why would anybody have an opinion of something they didn't see?" Stoops said. "Anybody who saw the game knew we did everything we could to keep the score down."
OU's offensive starters were pulled after the first half, and the backups took a knee near the A&M goal line with more than 8 minutes remaining.
