LORAIN, Ohio - Police were investigating a complaint from a mother who said an officer rousted her 8-year-old son and his friend from their play fort and frisked them for weapons.
The complaint comes two weeks after another Lorain police officer arrested a 9-year-old boy at gunpoint for waving a toy gun.
Deborah Septaric said an officer, who has not been identified, confronted her son, Thor, and his 8-year-old friend Sunday as they played in a fort they had built in a wooded area behind an elementary school.
Septaric said the boys reported that the officer shouted at them to put their hands over their heads and then frisked them for weapons.
The officer told the boys they were trespassing before ordering them to go home, she said.
Police Capt. Russ Cambrera said the incident is being investigated. He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Septaric said the boys were traumatized by the incident and came home trembling.
Septaric said she went back to the wooded area and didn't find any no-trespassing signs.
On Oct. 25, officer Joe Novosielski arrested 9-year-old Thomas Clark Jr. for waving a toy gun.
The child, who was handcuffed and taken to jail, was charged by police with juvenile delinquency for inducing panic, but the Lorain County prosecutor refused to prosecute.
