DELHI TWP. - Sister Patricia Neyhart, a music teacher for more than 40 years, died Nov. 4 at Mother Margaret Hall nursing home. She was 90.
A native of Milton, Pa., Sister Patricia became a Sister of Charity in 1931 in Marion, Ohio. With a bachelor's in music from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Delhi Township, and a master's degree in music from the University of Cincinnati, Sister Patricia taught instrumental and vocal music, methods in vocal music, and humanities for 40 years in catholic grade schools, high schools and colleges in Ohio, Michigan, New Mexico and Illinois.
In the Cincinnati area, Sister Patricia taught at Seton High School in Price Hill for 12 years; St. Matthew in Norwood and Santa Marie Institute in Price Hill for five years each; the College of Mount St. Joseph for four years; and several elementary schools for lesser periods.
"Music was at the heart of Sister Pat's personality, " said Sister of Charity Carol Brenner. "It was her ministry in her active years and her comfort in her last years."
In 1974, Sister Patricia became director of liturgical music at St. Paul Church, Owosso, Mich., where she coordinated the parish music program. She retired from this ministry in 1988, and moved to St. Andrew Parish in Milford, where she was an active volunteer. She began a junior choir, joined the Bible study group, and helped with liturgical music and planning.
Sister Patricia is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Engler and Jean Szybist, both of Pennsylvania, and nieces and nephews.
Services have been held.
Burial was in the Motherhouse cemetery. Memorials can be made in Sister Patricia Neyhart's name to Sisters of Charity Cincinnati Retirement Fund, 5900 Delhi Road, Mount St. Joseph, OH, 45051.
