Who: Bill Carpenter, 47, a quality control lab technician for Flint Ink who has a driving passion for Dodge Vipers.

On display: His collection of more than 110 die-cast versions of the luxury sports car.

Where: In a curio cabinet and on several shelves in the family room of the Ludlow home he shares with son, Jarrod, 20.

Wishing and hoping: "The Viper is a two-seater sports car for the wealthy individual and a dream for those of us who can't afford it," Carpenter says, chuckling.

For now, he is content with microscopic models including: A LeAnn Rimes Viper, a Johnny Lightning Monopoly Viper, a Matchbox Los Angeles Lakers Viper, A Viper Club of America Hot Wheels, KISS "Hot Rockin' Steel" Vipers by Racing Champions and two Micro Machines Vipers. One of his favorites is a radio-controlled Viper that he runs up and down the living room while watching television.

Wow! Carpenter's infatuation with Vipers began about seven years ago. His first few were part of the Hot Wheels line. When he started focusing on Vipers, friends and family joined in the hunt, scoring them everywhere from car shows to eBay.

Walter Mitty: Carpenter contents himself with driving a 1993 Honda Prelude that he bought new.

"In my mind," he says, "That's my Viper. But believe me, if I ever win the lottery, I'll be at the Dodge dealership the very next day!"
