Elmwood Place appoints mayor

The Cincinnati Enquirer

ELMWOOD PLACE - Leaders in this central Hamilton County suburb have filled several vacancies in the financially strapped village.

On Friday, council member Barney Philpot was appointed mayor following the resignations of Mayor Jim Toles and Vice Mayor Scarlett Monday.

Toles resigned earlier this month, saying he is tired of council's political bickering, and the vice mayor's resignation came Friday.

In addition, the village has a new police chief, Patrick Olvey, who was sworn in Friday.

The former chief, Jeremy Alley, 27, stepped down as a result of charges that he used village computers to solicit sex from an underage girl on the Internet.
