Bryzgalov, AHL Ducks shut out Syracuse

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 20 shots for his third shutout of the season to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to a 2-0 win over the Syracuse Crunch Saturday at the War Memorial in Syracuse.
Sheldon Brookbank and Joel Perrault scored for Cincinnati, which improved to 5-1-1-0 in its last seven games.
Bryzgalov, who has allowed just 12 goals over his last nine starts, tied Gregg Naumenko for first place on Cincinnati's career leader list in wins with the 39.
Pascal Leclaire, a first-round pick by Columbus in 2001, stopped 31 shots for Syracuse, which lost its third consecutive game.
The Ducks - who at 8-5-3-0 are three games above .500 for the first time since March 23, 2002 when they were 32-29-9-3 - face Chicago at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday at Cincinnati Gardens.

ECHL CYCLONES WIN: The Cyclones defeated the Johnstown Chiefs 2-1 in a shootout at U.S. Bank Arena and broke a three-game losing skid. Jason Norrie scored the winner after Brett Clouthier forced overtime with his first goal as a Cyclone, on a deflection of Josh Harrold's shot.
In the shootout period, Cincinnati's Mark Concannon and Johnstown's Dmitri Tarabrin traded goals forcing sudden death. In the second round of the shootout, Randy Petruk stoned Chad Cavanaugh, and Norrie scored the winner. The Clones host Dayton at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
CCHA MIAMI LOSES: No. 15-ranked Michigan State (7-4-1, 6-3-1 CCHA) split the two-game series with the RedHawks (6-6-2, 4-3-1 CCHA) at Goggin Arena with a 3-1 victory Saturday.
MU's Matt Christie scored a power-play goal.
Former Miami star Brian Savage of the Phoenix Coyotes had his jersey retired prior to the game.
