Promotions and new on the job

• James J. Swisher has been named tax manager in the Cincinnati office of Grant Thornton LLP. Swisher will manage tax compliance and consulting for manufacturing, distribution and construction clients. Formerly a senior tax associate, he has been with Grant Thornton for two years. He received a bachelor's degree in business from Franklin University.

• Brian C. Finley has been named assistant vice president at Fifth Third Bank, Valena L. Schewene, assistant cashier and Charles R. Maness has joined as manager of the mortgage loan servicing division.

• Chris Silasavage has joined The Circleport Marriotts (Residence Inn and Courtyard Airport) as new sales manager.

• Jim Curtis has been named executive sales assistant of Embassy Suites RiverCenter.

• Appointed new officers for Mainstrasse Village are: Jeff Snyder, president; Sonia Derge, treasurer; Jerry Bamberger, executive director; and Donna Kremer, administrative coordinator.

• Julie Johnson has been named sales manager at Hampton Inn Riverfront.

• Marie Fuehner of the Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau has been appointed to the Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development board of directors.

• Joanne Maly has been named marketing director at Newport on the Levee.

• Madhav Teresdesal has joined The FocusMark Group LLC as data analytics group supervisor, and Patrick Burke has joined as data analyst.

• Marva Johns, human resource manager at LPK (Libby Perszyk Kathman), has been appointed to the board of directors of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Johns has managed the human resources department at LPK for six years. Previously she was in human resources at General Electric. She holds affiliations with Society of Human Resource Managers, Greater Cincinnati HR Association and Employers Resource Association.

• The following have joined Sibcy Cline Realtors as real estate sales associates: Ray A. Waer, West Chester office, and Alex Boymel, Blue Ash office.

• Alex Rodriguez has been named senior vice president and chief information officer at Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati.

• Dr. William Edward Hurford has joined The University Hospital and the UC College of Medicine as professor and chair of anesthesia.

• Karyn Leineweber has joined Cole + Russell Architects Inc. as marketing coordinator; Kristina Hoeffer joined as group coordinator for the commercial and education group; and Damien Komala, media/graphics coordinator.

• Paul G. Wesling has been named vice president of the product marketing department for The Union Central Life Insurance Co.

• Maureen "Mo" Brennan has been named director of client services at Justice & Young.

• Philip Henderson has joined Dynus Financial Group LLC, a division of Dynus Corp., as director of operations and sales for the mortgage branch, and Marcus Campbell has joined as senior vice president.

• Matthew V. Brammer has joined Ulmer & Berne as an associate in the liability defense group and concentrates on pharmaceutical and nutritional products and medical device defense. Brammer is a member of the Ohio State and Cincinnati Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute and the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys. He serves on the Cincinnati Bar Association Court of Appeals and Common Pleas Court Committees and is an arbitration panel member of the Hamilton County, Ohio Court of Common Pleas. He earned his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University.

• For the third consecutive year, Embassy Suites Hotel has been awarded the 2003 J.D. Power and Associates Award for "Highest Guest Satisfaction Among Upscale Hotel Chains."

• Executive Transportation Services Inc. has received the International Taxi and Limousine Association Sedan Operator of the Year National Award.

• Robin Jones and Sam Nelson, specialists in residential real estate with Coldwell Banker West Shell, have been recognized at the inaugural and historic release of "Who's Who in Black Cincinnati," a publication that seeks out African-American men and women that have left their mark in the Cincinnati community and salutes their achievements.

• Delorise Staples, volunteer with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, a Cincinnati nonprofit organization, has received the True Servant Award from True Divine Ministries Inc.

• Susan Arnold, president of Global Personal Beauty Care and Global Feminine Care, Procter & Gamble and Linda Wells, editor in chief of Allure, have received The Skin Cancer Foundation's 2003 Skin Sense Award.

• Institute of Management Accountants, Northern Kentucky chapter, has named Paul Hitter Jr. as the 2003 Northern Kentucky Accounting Executive of the Year.

• Judith Cline-Kadetz, owner and president of Target Marketing for Professional Services, has received a 2003 Outstanding Community Service Award from the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce.

Acquisitions

• Neopost, the worldwide provider of mailing, addressing, document handling and logistics systems, has purchased the IKON Office Solutions Mailing and Shipping Division in Blue Ash, establishing a Neopost office that will serve the Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Cincinnati markets from one central location.

Expansions

• Angel Healthcare Staffing, (AHS), a division of BH1 based in Nashville, Tenn., a health care staffing company created to support and enhance the health care professional staffing needs of area hospitals and health care service companies, has opened at 655 Eden Park Drive, Suite 735.

• Fibre Glass-Evercoat, celebrating its 50th anniversary in the automotive refinishing, recreational marine and boat building industries, has launched a new interactive Web site, designed and hosted by locally based CTD Technologies. The new Web site is at www.evercoat.com.
