Employees facing the possibility of layoffs are not the only ones dealing with the stressful effects of the languishing economy, a new survey of executives by the Lee Hecht Harrison global consulting firm has found.
Managers are under pressure to do more with less - including staff, money and other resources - while keeping their remaining employees happy, building customer loyalty and making their businesses successful.
LHH interviewed 100 senior executives in 92 organizations. Their message was that just getting "back to basics," or knowing what they want to achieve, communicating that to employees and directing the action is not the answer, LHH Vice President Bob Lewis said.
Instead, managers are looking for success by establishing relationships with their employees that are "inclusive, collaborative and consensual," he said.
