SLADE, Ky. - A University of Cincinnati student died Saturday after falling from a 150-foot ledge during a hiking trip, Kentucky State Police said.
Jamison L. Rowland, 18, of Springboro, was camping overnight on the ledge near the Red River Gorge in Menifee County with a group of college students.
The students camping with Rowland were awakened by a noise at 3 a.m. and found he had fallen off the ledge, police said.
Rowland was pronounced dead about 9:30 a.m. by a Menifee County coroner.
He is listed in the UC student directory, but the university had no other information available Sunday.
State police were investigating the death as an accident.
