Lakota adds to school plan
New Liberty elementary on list
By Sue Kiesewetter Enquirer contributor
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Lakota educators are rethinking plans for the future of Liberty Elementary School.
Instead of adding a gymnasium and classrooms to continue to use it as an elementary school for grades 1-6, the Lakota Board of Education now plans to convert the building into a second early childhood center and construct a building to replace the elementary school.
"Our plan was not going to make that building viable for the long term," said Daniel Warncke, a board member who sits on the Facilities Committee.
The change came after a community meeting last month at Liberty Elementary.
