Death threat to Ohno causes U.S. to pull out

The U.S. short-track speedskating team pulled out of next week's World Cup event in South Korea Friday after team member Apolo Anton Ohno received death threats via e-mail. Ohno won two medals at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, including a gold.

OUTDOOR NHL GAME: The Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens will play at 55,000-seat Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton tonight, the first outdoor game in NHL history.
Devils 2, Penguins 1, OT: Patrik Elias scored two goals, including :39 into overtime, to stretch New Jersey's unbeaten streak to 11.
Sabres 5, Hurricanes 0: Mika Noronen made 35 saves for his third career shutout, and J.P. Dumont had two goals and an assist to lead Buffalo.
Thrashers 6, Panthers 3: Shawn McEachern had two goals, and Ilya Kovalchuk his NHL-leading 15th to carry Atlanta to its straight victory.
Stars 3, Kings 1: Marty Turco made 25 saves, and Brenden Morrow scored twice to help Dallas halt a seven-game winless streak
ECHL 'CLONES LOSE: Cincinnati suffered its third shutout of the season, falling 2-0 to the Peoria Rivermen at U.S. Bank Arena. Peoria is 3-0 against the Cyclones.
AHL DUCKS LOSE: Tyler Bouck had a goal and two assists to lead the Manitoba Moose to a 4-2 victory over Cincinnati at Winnipeg.
CCHA MIAMI WINS: The RedHawks (7-6-1, 5-3-1 CCHA), behind freshman goalie Brandon Crawford-West and senior Greg Hogeboom's two goals and an assist, thumped Alaska-Fairbanks 7-1 at Goggin Arena. UAF fell to 5-6-1, 4-3-0.

NKU VOLLEYBALL: Nicole Salisbury had 17 kills, 10 digs and a 31.6 hitting percentage as Northern Kentucky upset previously unbeaten Northern Michigan 30-27, 29-31, 30-22, 30-28 in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament in Marquette, Mich.
Kristin Koralewski added 14 kills. NKU (26-11) handed Northern Michigan its first loss (26-1).
NKU meets Grand Valley State at 7:30 p.m. today for a trip to the Elite Eight.

PRESIDENTS CUP: Tiger Woods and Charles Howell III beat Tim Clark and Retief Goosen 1-up, the seventh win of 10 matches for the Americans at George, South Africa. The United States took a 9 1/2-6 1/2 lead into the six best-ball matches today.
LPGA TOUR: Meg Mallon and Laura Davies, who each turned 40 this year, moved into a tie for the lead at 2-under 142 after two rounds of the season-ending ADT Championships in West Palm Beach, Fla.
UBS CUP: Nick Faldo and Tony Jacklin beat Arnold Palmer and Rocco Mediate 1-up, helping the Rest of the World lead the U.S. 3 1/2-2 1/2 at St. Simons Island, Ga.
DUNLOP PHOENIX: Sergio Garcia shot a 6-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds in Japan.
CHAMPIONS Q-SCHOOL: Zimbabwe's Mark McNulty won the qualifying tournament, beating former European Ryder Cup captain Mark James by three at Coral Springs, Fla. Cincinnatian Tom Elfers failed to make the cut at 157.
PEBBLE BEACH: John Daly shot a 4-under 68 on the Del Monte course for a 7-under 137 total to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the invitational.

FED CUP: Martina Navratilova, 47, who has a career record of 38-0 in the competition, is paired with Lisa Raymond in doubles for the Americans in the best-of-5 final against France. Raymond and Meghann Shaughnessy will play singles for the USA against France's Amelie Mauresmo and Mary Pierce.
